Cleveland is always a delight with the amount of diversity and innovation that we see. And this year, it was yuuuge with a lot of energy and innovation in the MOD Retro class.
Young guns spent more time and effort than money to deliver outstanding builds.
Another young builder that has been making a name for himself is Austin Andrella of Austin Martin Originals.
His work in vertical twins gets better each year and this year he put it all together and took the point in FreeStyle and MOD Retro and came away with the combined winnings of $2,750.
Austin Andrella Wins Ultimate Builder FreeStyle Class
Austin Andrella of Austin Martin Originals rolled his bike into FreeStyle to compete with the big dogs and rolled out of Cleveland with a win and a check for $2,000. His XS 650 features a custom frame, 138 cycle designs front end, JE forged pistons. matching 21″ wheels, AMO stainless bars and exhaust and Lyndall Racing 2pc.fully floating high carbon crown cut rear rotor.

He qualified for the US Nationals in Chicago and will compete for $50,000 in cash and prizes including a 120ci Screamin’Eagle (SE) Pro 120R engine and a Royal Enfield motorcycle. Freestyle is an open class for any build with a motorcycle based drive train; Any 2 or 3 wheel motorcycle as defined by the DMV. Motorcycle must run.
MOD Harley Class
Dusty Pine wheeled in his garage built Hot Rod that he has been working on for a number of years. It features custom molded hardtail frame and one-off “see through” fuel tank. The engine delivers 90HP for the 1200cc engine and 10.5:1 CR ported and polished heads, Andrews cams and Bassani exhaust.

Modified Harley – Must have Harley-Davidson engine cases and frame. Neck may be cut to rake or stretch frame. Hard tail sections and wide tire kits are acceptable. Touring models, Softails, Dynas, FXRs, Sportsters and V-Rods qualify for this class. Must be a 2 or 3 wheel motorcycle configuration as defined by the DMV. Motorcycle must run.
Austin Andrella Wins Ultimate Builder RETRO MOD
Austin Andrella had a great weekend in Cleveland as he took first place in FreeStyle and Retro MOD. The “Ole 69’er” features LED SLED narrow springer, Joe Hunt Mag cantilever seat, WWII ammo box for electrical American Racing Spinner for speedo delete and a bare bones leather seat.

MOD Street Class
Tony Odom of Fancy Cycle took the win with his 2003 Hayabusa called “The Scoprion Bike.” The bike features an extended swing arm, digital mirrors and hidden exhaust. The wild paint scheme was provided by by Wicked Kolor. The most unusual aspect of the build is the plexiglas cage that houses two live Scorpion.

Best Paint was awarded to #225 – Eddie Slovensky with Mr. Classic, a 2008 Harley Electra Glide Classic featuring over 140 hours of custom Pink Floyd paint scheme and clear coat by John Kyser of Hold Fast Tattoo’s & Dan-o of Mainstreet Studios.
The People’s Choice recipient went to #625 Dell Battle of Danerous Dezigns with his 1991 Sportster ‘72 Style Sporty. He won a Custom 500 lid from Bell Helmets and $100 gift certificate from J&P Cycles.
Phillip Hudson took the Ingenuity Award for his 1980 Suzuki GS750.
The Originality Award went to Ala Yahya of Zash Blade Motorcycle for his 2017 Zash Detroit Blade motorcycle.
K&N Award winner is #700 Jesse Combs + Theresa Contreras for their 2016 BMW R Nine T. The builders received up to $500 in product awards.
SHO DOG is awarded to the individual that works the show to promote their business and the custom bike industry Tony Odom, Fancy Cycle won The Leatherworks solo chopper bag for his efforts.
