The 2017 J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Championship Crowns “The King of the Builders” to conclude the 2016-2017 Season

The 2017 J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Championship concluded in Chicago this past weekend with Nick Beaulieu of Forever Two Wheels crowned “King of the Builders” in front of his peers at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL and received a big $10,000 check for his efforts. The 8 winning builders split over $57,000+ in cash and prizes.

Nick Beaulieu’s Forever Two Wheels motorcycle shop is located in Windham, Maine. It specializes in Harley-Davidson Motorcycles from 1970’s to 2000’s and offers a wide variety of services including metal fabrication, machine work, performance parts, custom builds and welding.

The opportunity for Progressive International Motorcycle Show enthusiasts, members of the media, and the greater industry to appreciate these rolling masterpieces of art and meet their creators was a memorable experience for all.

The judging was provided by a panel of industry experts and included Chris Callen, Editor-in-Chief of Cycle Source Magazine, Jeff Holt, Brand Director of HOT BIKE and Street Chopper Magazines, Pat Jansen of Sin-Central, Carl Pusser, Past National Champion and President of Walking Tall Customs and Chris Tice, Director of Competition, XDL.

2017 J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Championship – FreeStyle

Beaulieu is no stranger to the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show Series. He won the most recent rounds in NY for his FreeStyle and Retro MOD entries.

His bike features a custom made girder front end, handmade frame with Pentagram down tube and axle blocks, one off pentagram wheels, handmade exhaust with pentagram exhaust tips, custom tail section and aluminum gas tank. A Baker 6-speed matched with a BDL belt drive takes care of getting the power to the rear wheel.

2017 J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Championship – MOD Harley-Davidson

Steven Iacona of Iacona Customs is known for building exceptional and award winning bikes with basic hand tools. You won’t see CNC machines in his Brooklyn, N Y based shop.
What you will see in an Iacona build is outstanding design. Phoenix is a 1992 Harley-Davidson Sportster modified with a Harley frame. The oil tank, oil cooler shroud, front & rear fenders, front fairing, gas tank, tail section and exhaust pipes are all hand fabricated.
Iacona took home the coveted Harley-Davidson 120R engine for his efforts.

2017 J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Championship – Retro MOD

Steve Dietzman was the only builder to compete in the Chicago round and then move on to the Championship round and win it there. He tool home two big checks totaling $2,250 and the Royal Enfield Continental GT.

His 1968 Triumph features Chopper 21″ front wheel with JR. Cycle Products spool hub, 18″ rear Triumph chrome spool laced to an NOS Dunlop rim. Dietzman matched front and rear Firestone bias ply tires, hand bent and chromed a one-off sissy bar and Low Brow Customs wassell gas tank with candy red metal flake with gold pin striping.

2017 J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Championship – MOD Custom

Evan Favaro of Speakeasy Motors built a tribute named Ethel for grandmother named Ethel. It features prototype billet/lexan valve covers, hard tailed frame, custom neck, leaf spring front end by kiwi Indian, bevel gear throttle, hand fabricated split tanks and fenders.

In addition, his handmade stainless exhaust, stainless seat with hand-tooled pad, 21” front wheel, custom intake and rear brake round out the custom features.
