Hedrick wins 2 awards at Harley’s 111th Anniversary
The 3rd Annual Harley-Davidson Museum Invitational Custom Bike Pro Show was held in Milwaukee with over $2 million in custom sleds were on display. The event featured 5 former 1st place winners and 3 debut bikes.
Tom Hedrick’s 1987 H-D Heritage Softail is a crowd pleaser. The bike drips chrome and is covered in eye catching murals. And after the people voted he took home the People’s Choice Award. After the builders voted, he took 2nd place in the MOD Harley competition.
The go-fast parts include many Screaming Eagle updates, a Woods Prowler 590 Cam, twin 42 Mikuni carbs with dual throat manifold units, Rivera manifold, nitrous, Xzotic Panhead-style rocker box covers, Martin Bros exhaust and Diamond cut heads by Diamond Heads. Additional features include Milwaukee Iron fenders and dash, Wicked Image mirrors, floorboards, brake, shifter and grips from Bastinni and fairing by B13 Handcrafted Inc.
The coolest item of the Heritage is the paint. Painter, Dustin Hobert, put 500 hours in airbrushing, and it shows. The bike contains all the characters from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The museum show is held in the wedding tent called Chrome. Chandeliers illuminate the customs, which created a classy environment for the show.
