Shaun Ruddy Wins Rats Hole & Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show
This year’s Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show at the Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Rally was another wild and woolly motorcycle event.
Chop Devillle’s Shaun Ruddy was the man of the hour, walking away with “Best of Show” honors against stiff competition.
To win at the Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show can help launch a literal unknown into the limelight or solidify a legend’s reputation. Competition is fierce, the bar is raised every year, and the top custom bike builders in the nation and beyond hold the show in high reverence.
The Retro Racer rolls on 26-inch wheels, front and back. The tall and narrow front fork legs are connected to motocross-style shocks. One of the striking features of the bike is a split gas tank with the backbone running in between.
The sled is powered by a 127 cubic-inch Ultima El Bruto V-Twin with a Panhead rocker box on the front cylinder and an Evo on the rear. A two-inch open belt primary, a six-speed tranny and custom pipes fuel the powertrain. It’s a killer sled and it is heading to the AMD World Championship Affiliate Show in Milwaukee.
