Once I saw the type of helmet is was, first thought I had was drag racing….And Evel Knievel!! So I decided to do a throw back to the man. I wanted to keep it clean but also represent the ROT Rally. I put the Republic of Texas on the front, where Evel’s name was, in variegated gold leaf imported from Italy.
Chris Garrision painted Nexx Helmet is featured at the Republic of Texas Invitational Custom Bike Show sponsored by Russ Brown. Painters from across the United States will be participating in this creative helmet feature.

I decided to add some script that was on the original helmet Evel wore as well as the crown and cane. The script reads “To Be A Man to do my best, to stand alone, is my only quest.”
A little side note on the history of the original helmet. He wore it to jump 13 buses in Wembley Stadium, London on May 26 1975. I will actually be done with the helmet tomorrow May 26 2016, 41 years later. I just found this out today, I thought was pretty cool in a cheesy kinda way. The original helmet sold in 2012 for $60,000, crazy!! I attached some photos of the original helmet as well.
