Winning at the Hollister AMD Affiliate
Jim Guiffra of AFT Customs took 1st place with Halia.
AFT is both a custom workshop and a model agency, and to make things even more exciting, the girls themselves build the bikes.
Halia, which is a Hawaiian term for “Rememberance”, is a bike built in honor of the late father of Nalani, one of the girls in the team, who passed away just before this awarded bike kicked off.
The tank of Halia is hand-made from steel and the side covers and fenders are hand formed from aluminium. The frame is modified from a stock standard structure and things like a hidden radiator, race suspension, digital switches and LED lights point to the bike’s intent.
The street tracker also runs a Beringer six-piston front caliper on the disc brake, while a standard Honda drum brake lives at the rear.
Hollister Teems with History
Hollister teems with history. It is universally recognized that “the birth of the American biker” occurred during the infamous Gypsy Tour motorcycle event at Hollister over the Fourth of July holiday weekend in 1947. Fast forward to 2013 and the American biker is alive and well and enjoying life. The bikers, vendors and shoppe owners all had a smile on their face.
