Jeremy Cupp took 2nd in New York before the holiday break and then motored into the 1st at the Washington DC edition of the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike show. He beat all comers in FreeStyle with his custom Sportster called LC Speedster.
The Grottoes, Virginia native took the National Championship last year and is continuing on his winning ways. The bike has a hybrid café and flat tracker style. The all metal tail doubles as an oil tank with a dramatic trio of hard lines feeding the engine.
The Sportster comes equipped with power supplied by an S&S internals. The silver and black paint scheme contrasts nicely with the distressed oxblood leather diamond-pleated seat cover. Hanging off the carb is a striking LC Fab’s Ham Can air cleaner. It’s a won-of-a-kind motorcycle from a won-of-a-kind builder.
How and why did you get started building bikes:
I come from a long line of fabricators and machinists, and I’ve ridden since i was 10. I had been riding a 300 Honda for years, and always dreamed of a cool chopper. Having no money basically forced me to try to create my own, from scratch. That bike was cool, but a long way from perfect, with each one I try to learn and improve my skills.
Past awards you’ve received for your build:
Several Easyrider shows and a VQ award in 2009. 6th place at the AMD world Championship in 2009 as well. Lots of Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Shows, including the overall National Championship winner in 2011 and 2016. Second place at AMD World Championship in 2012. 2015 Artistry in Iron winner, The Horse Pro Show winner 2015, 2015 AIMExpo Championship of the Americas winner.
How has the parts business been effected by participating in the Ultimate Builder:
Ever since his J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder win in 2012, LC Fabrications custom part line has been flourishing. “There are highs and lows, but you can see the spikes whenever we take home an award… Every day you think about the customer, your new builds and growing your craft, and the overall business. The thing is… you never stop thinking about your home and family… the reason you are doing any of it.”
How are your parts packaged and shipped:
On school nights, after dinner is cleared away, those LC Fab parts that are such demand are carefully packaged and prepared for shipment by the entire Cupp household. This little assembly line is created right on the kitchen table, at their Shenandoah valley home. It is the best time for Jeremy, J&P Cycle’s “King of the Builders”, to talk with his clan about their day.
How would you like people to reach you:
I still work a 40 hour a week job…so i dont have a listed number (haha the boss doesnt like phone calls) a link to my email can be found on my website – www.lcfabrications.com, I can also be found on Facebook as Jeremy Cupp and as LCFabrications, and dont forget to follow the @lcfabrications Instagram page.
Jeremy Cupp – King of the Builders
The ‘King of the Builders’ is talented custom builder Jeremy Cupp from LC Fabrications who also led in the Freestyle and Sponsored (Street Chopper Magazine) categories for his bike called Seven. The elegant brushed steel bike brought Jeremy a total prize package worth more than $12,800 (cash and prizes).
For the winners, The J&P Cycle’s Ultimate Builder Championship has been well known to come with a certain set of… side effects. When builders win this event, they are instantly in-demand: the bikes, the parts, and most importantly, their time. Jeremy Cupp, the winner of the 2016 J&P Cycle’s Ultimate Builder Championship, refers to it as the “Michael Jordan Effect”.
