Do you know why there is so much diversity and high-level customs in the Minneapolis edition of the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Shows? There is just nothing to do but build something in the Winter. You certainly are NOT going to ride in 10 below.
It was bitter cold outside but toasty in the Minneapolis Convention Center. The following 8 builders have qualified for the Championship in FEBRUARY 09 – 11, 2018 to complete for $70,000 in cash and prizes.
FreeStyle – 2017 Minneapolis Ultimate Builder Results
Dana Hallberg’s Deadline Customs built a bagger style bike custom with a Hayabusa mill that delivers an estimated 600+ HP. Mounted low in the frame is a Garrett turbo. Additional features includes a complete custom body by Deadline and Black label baggers, real carbon fiber inlays, special powder coating by race coatings, one off MAD wheels 32” , pingal wheelie bar, custom fuel cell and radiator in bags , over 150 custom parts and chrome plating by JR custom plating.

Mod Retro – 2017 Minneapolis Ultimate Builder Results
Matt Anderson of Gilby’s Street Dept. built a 1982 Harley Davidson FXRS with left handed side draft Weber carb, two rear heads, RC Nitro Wheels, S&S 4.5″ fhywheels built to94ci Shovelhead. Additional features include Jody Peweritz Mustang Seat, Rick Doss rear fender and Klock Werks front fender. Matt wins a $500 K&N Filters gift certificate for his effort.

Dirty Girl is designed and built 2017 Triumph Bonneville T120 by Vanessa Nay. It features a British Customs Low Profile Diamond Stitch Slammer seat, BC Retro Taillight, BC Retro Chain Guard with holes, BC Bates Foot Pegs, BC Front Fender Bracket, BC Rear Shock Mount Plug n’ Play Retro Turn Signals, BC Number Plates, BC 1″ 4-bolt Handlebar Risers with Mule Tracker Handlebars, Continental TKC80 Tires and finished with BC Sleeper Pro Exhaust. Matt wins a $500 gift certificate for his effort.

MOD Harley – 2017 Minneapolis Ultimate Builder Results
The 2009 Ward Performance Pro Street Dyna features a Ward Performance 124 CI Engine – 161 Horsepower, custom rear set controls, hand built stainless exhaust, +6″ over aluminum swing arm, inverted forks with custom triple trees, JRI Drag Shocks, Lithium Ion Battery and BST Carbon Fiber Wheels. Rick wins a $500 K&N Filters gift certificate for his effort.

The J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show is the world’s largest motorcycle builder competition, featuring more than 350 motorcycles and $100,000 in cash and prizes across the IMS Tour. Professional and amateur builders compete at their local IMS for cash, prizes, recognition and a chance to move-on to the Championship Round in Chicago – where $70,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs!
The Progressive International Motorcycle Show debuted a new activity for the Minneapolis custom bike builders entering the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show called Grease and Gears. Grease and Gears can be seen on the International Motorcycle Show Facebook page and is like being in a garage hanging out with your buddies working on your bike. Custom builders that made it to the stage included Kyle Shorey of Shadetree Fabrications, Brian Klock, Max Ness, Matt Anderson of Gilby Street Department and Cory Ness.

The Tortilla Awards came together because Jeff Holt from HOT BIKE loves tortillas from Raquelitas Mexican Food in Denver CO. In order to get a case of free tortillas, he came up with (3) Tortilla Awards.

City Show Rounds. The following prizes apply to each Show of the Contest
UBM will provide the prize money to the winning contestants (subject to winners complying with the Official Rules and returning all signed affidavits and releases as requested) for a Contest, as set forth in the Official Rules and tentatively as follows for all cities, except Chicago:
- Freestyle Category Winner will receive US$1,000 and a trophy. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of trophy US$50. Total ARV of cash and trophy US$1,050. Runner up will receive a plaque. ARV of plaque US$50.
- Mod Retro Category Winner will receive US$750 and a trophy. ARV of trophy US $50. Total ARV of cash and trophy US$800. Runner up will receive a plaque. ARV US$50.
- Custom Street Category Winner will receive US$500 and a trophy. ARV of trophy is US $50. Total ARV of cash and trophy US$550. Runner up will receive a plaque. ARV US$50.
- Mod Harley Category Winner will receive US$750 and a trophy. ARV of trophy US$50. Total ARV of cash and trophy US$800. Runner up will receive a plaque. ARV US$50.
- Sponsored Categories Winner will receive a prize determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion.

Chicago Championship Round . The following prizes are applicable only to the Chicago Event:
- Freestyle Category Winner will receive US$10,000, trophy and championship ring. ARV of trophy and ring US$400. Total ARV of cash, ring and trophy is US$10,400. Runner up will receive a plaque. ARV of plaque: US$10.
- Mod Retro Category Winner will receive US$1,500 and a trophy. ARV value of trophy US$50. Total ARV of cash and trophy US$1,550. Runner up will receive a plaque. ARV of plaque US$50.
- Custom Street Category Winner will receive US$1,500 and a trophy. ARV of trophy US $50. Total ARV of cash and trophy US$1,550
- Mod Harley Category Winner will receive US$2,000 and a trophy. ARV of trophy US $100. Total ARV of cash and trophy US$2100.
- Sponsored Categories Winner will receive a prize determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion.
- Championship participants receive a product prize package determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion for a total purse of $50,000 + the value of Sponsor Award prizes.
