The finest custom bike builders in the country showcased their latest creations at North America’s premier competition, which serves as an automatic qualifier for the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building. A total of 31 bikes from from 24 builders were entered in one of four classes:

  • Free Style
  • Performance Custom
  • Retro Custom
  • Street Custom

Tim Dixon’s Pennie Lane

  • The motor and trans  comes from a donor 1959 Panhead
  • The frame is from raw 7/8” diameter tubing
  • The frame was stretched 4”

Dixon did a Harmon-style front end on the long chopper and liked the way it worked. So he started with a Model A straight axle, added a shock and a rocker, and shazam… it worked.

You have to take a minute to understand the rear suspension. He used springs from a 1931 Ford Model A to make a leaf spring-style suspension. The springs were arched to match the curve of the fender.

Additionally, all enthusiasts from the expo casted votes to determine the People’s Choice.

People’s Choice went to the BMW Alpha built by Salt Lake City machinist Mark Atkinson, and inspired by a concept created by Turkish designer Mehmet Doruk Erdem.
